ABOUT ME

Captain Bates Holding Giant Redfish
Captain Poling boat for Redfish

I am fortunate enough to have been born and raised in a state covered with marshes, rivers, bays, estuaries, lagoons and tributaries. I am proud to call myself a Native Floridian and love the pristine coastline, nature, and diverse fisheries that the Sunshine State has to offer. My father introduced me to fishing at a young age and I have been HOOKED ever since. All of my best memories have occurred on the water with a rod and reel in my hand. I enjoy the adventures, opportunities, and mysteries that fishing brings. I grew up fishing all over the state but I am especially drawn to Northeast Florida because of the extreme tides, marshes, and unique fishery. I chose to attend the University of North Florida in Jacksonville because it is the closest University to my favorite fishing in Florida.  My passion has led me to many adventures, memories, and friendships that will last a lifetime.  At the age of 19, I earned my Captain’s License so I could share my past time with others. Join me on a journey in the marsh so you can see Florida’s First Coast at its best and make memories that you will never forget.
